My name’s Loretta Faye. Some folks around these parts call me Loretty. I answer to either. My son, Bubba Jim and his family, and I all live down here in Eastern Oklahoma.
I got to be honest. It ain’t really a trailer park. It’s forty acres, four miles off the paved road. They’s just one trailer. It’s a 1982 Fleetwood, single wide 16 x 90. Bubba Jim and his wife Donna live in it with their five youngin’s. They’re savin’ up for a doublewide.
I live out back in a lil ol’ trolley car Bubba Jim and his daddy, my third husband, got at an auction.
Since my fourth husband run off with a cocktail waitress from Oklahoma City, I’m on my own. Bubba Jim and Donna wanted me close to them, to watch after me, they claimed, but I think me helpin’ them watch after all them kids was more like it.
Anyhoo. I done fixed up this trolley, and it’s the cutest thing. Painted it back red like it was when it was runnin’. Got some kitty cat fabric down to the Walmart and made curtains. It suits me to a tee.
A few weeks back, Bubba Jim and Donna took a wild hair and up and got us on the interline. They went down to the Rent to Own and got them a new computer and gave me their old one. I’m so tickled to have Windows 98 and a color screen it ain’t even funny. Even though I told them all I wanted was to play solitaire and maybe type out some of my mama and grandma’s recipes, they got me hooked up to the net, so I figure writin’ about our lives is as good a way to get know my cyberspace neighbors as any.
Don’t ya’ll worry if I don’t post for a day or two. That there satellite interweb goes out ever’ time the wind blows, which if you know anything about Oklahoma, you know is pretty often. If I’m gone any longer, you’ll know Bubba Jim missed one them weekly payments and lost his new-fangled computer and took this one back.
Lookin’ forward to talkin’ to ya again real soon.
